As you can see on the above picture, handicap ramps for road crossings were constructed to the edge of the travel lanes, across the paved shoulders. According to the recent article in the Newark NJ Star Ledger, drivers traveling through this section of South Avenue frequently run over instead of around these ridicules obstacles which belong at the edge of the road. Who is the genius responsible for this design? Let us know!

These two inlet castings, which appear
to be just laying on top of grass, are actually set over concrete catch basin.
We have two questions: 1. With the castings set 5" above existing ground
what is this catch basin catching? 2. Why would anybody install two single
castings over one inlet instead of casting with single frame and double grate?

The sign on the left picture is located at the end of
taxiway, and is there for pilots who are just about to take-off from runway 1.
The right picture shows what the pilot is looking at just before the take off.
